Celebrate local stores on Small Business Saturday®
LINCOLN, NEB. (Nov. 16, 2012)—The big retailers have Black Friday and the online retailers have Cyber Monday. And, for the past three years, small business owners have their kickoff to the holiday shopping season with Small Business Saturday.®
On Nov. 24, Nebraskans—and people all across the country—are being asked to shop at their favorite local stores.
Small Business Saturday® is a day for everyone—from the business owners who create jobs to the customers who buy locally—to support small businesses that invigorate small communities. American Express founded Small Business Saturday in 2010 to help small businesses gain exposure during one of the biggest shopping weekends of the year. Last year, more than 100 million people participated.
Whether you are a brick-and-mortar retail store, restaurant or online-only small business, you can take advantage of this event. American Express is offering free tools and marketing materials to help you make the most of the day.
As a business owner, you can visit ShopSmall.com and download personalized in-store signage and social media and email templates to promote your business and the day. And then, get inspired by reading about how other small business owners made the most of Small Business Saturday® last year.
Nebraska is filled with diverse and innovative small businesses, and Nebraska Tourism is encouraging shoppers to participate in this special day. By supporting independently owned businesses, consumers help create jobs, boost the economy and preserve local shopping options across the state.
Together, we can make this the biggest day of the year for small business.
